Seven minutes is a long way to go for a trim. It's a short way to go for the right colourist.
New Lambton started as a coal township around the New Lambton Colliery, became a municipality in 1889 and joined Greater Newcastle in 1938. Blackbutt Reserve covers its south-western corner, about 182 hectares of mostly bushland with more than 16 km of tracks, and the Newcastle International Sports Centre, home of Hunter Stadium, is here too. The art deco Savoy cinema is now the New Lambton Community Centre. It's a suburb of family weekends in the bush and at the football, and the hair we see from here wants to be easy on both.
New Lambton has two shopping districts of its own, so if all you need is a quick tidy, you probably won't come to us, and that's fine. The New Lambton clients who do make the seven-minute drive usually want something specific: a colour fixed by someone who corrects colour every week, curls cut dry, or a Thursday-evening slot.
That honesty matters to us. A good hairdresser is one you go back to for years, and nobody does that on the strength of a short drive alone. They do it because the second appointment went as well as the first.
Colour correction is a large part of it. Box dye, a home toner that went green, a lightener that lifted unevenly: Lena sees it all, and she's frank about what one appointment can achieve. You'll find how we approach it on the hair colour page.
Grey blending is the other big one, for people who'd rather not be tied to a four-weekly root. And Mika's dry curly cuts bring in curls from well beyond The Junction. Cut options are on the women's haircut page, and every rate is on the prices page.
Kotara clients have their own page, and so does Adamstown. The Newcastle hub has the rest. Ready to go? Ask for a time and we'll reply with the closest fit.

It's 5.0 km by road to Kenrick Street in The Junction, roughly a seven-minute drive. There are closer salons, and we'd say so; people come this far for a particular stylist.
We're open Saturday 8am to 3pm. Early chairs go first, because they leave the rest of the day for sport, Blackbutt or the shops, so request one at the start of the week.
Yes. Grey blending puts soft lights and lowlights through the grey so regrowth looks gentle. It takes about two and a half hours and starts at $150 with a graduate stylist, $180 with a senior.
Usually, but rarely in one go. Lena, our director stylist, assesses it at the consultation and charges $150 an hour. She'll tell you how many visits she expects before any lightener goes on.
Mika, a senior stylist. She cuts each curl where it sits, so there are no surprises when it dries. The appointment is 75 minutes and $115.
Yes. Hair dye reactions are mostly to PPD and related dyes, and the colour makers instruct a five-minute skin test two days or more ahead of the appointment.

Tuesday to Saturday, late on Thursday. A consultation is free, and every price is set before anything is mixed.
